Genesis chapter 3 tells us why Adam and Eve had to leave the beautiful Garden of Eden.
When Satan was cast out of Heaven, I think he was sent to earth. In John 12:31 and John 16:11, Jesus speaks of the prince of this world which we know is the devil. I am by no means saying that hell does not exist. However, in chapter 1 we are told that in the beginning, darkness was upon the earth. Throughout the Bible darkness refers to Satan. He wants to stop God's plans. I'm glad he can't.
Satan is a very tricky being. He will disguise himself as someone or something we can trust. He will also use just enough truth in his lies so we can be easily deceived. When he told Eve that she would not die if she ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he was partially truthful. He knew her death would be spiritual, not physical. As long as we are living in sin we suffer a spiritual death. Colossians 2:13 says: And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;.
Adam and Eve thought they could hide from God and He would not know what they had done. We can hide our evil doings from others, but we cannot hide it from God. Numbers 32:23 says: But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out. He created us so He knows all the good, the bad, and the ugly. He even knows our future. Isn't it wonderful to know that when we are going through troublesome times that He knew at the beginning of the world that it would happen and He prepared a way out for us?
When He confronted them with their disobedience, they tried to lay the blame on someone else. Adam said it was Eve's fault, Eve said the serpent made her. Temptations will arise but it is ultimately our decision whether we will give in and we will suffer the punishment if we do.
Eve was made as an helpmeet for Adam. They were equal. Now, she was to be submissive to him. I think this is why we try to be equal to men today. We think we can do anything they can.
They had everything they needed without working for it. Now, not only would Adam have to grow his own food, but he would have to work hard for it and sometimes he would not get a good crop. We complain because conditions are hurting our gardens, whether they be ones we planted or ones someone else has planted to sell. This is part of the curse that was put on our father Adam. Instead of thinking today's problems are something new we need to remember that we are reaping what Adam and Eve sowed.
Even the animals suffered and are still suffering because of that one sin. Fruits, herbs, vegetables, nuts, grains, etc. were created to be meat for us, not animals. They did not have to die to provide us with clothing.
My previous pastor and my current pastor have said, "Sin will take you farther than you wanted to go, keep you longer than you wanted to stay and cost you more than you wanted to pay." Adam and Eve did not want all this to happen. Don't think for one second that you can try drugs, alcohol or tobacco just one time, have a sexual encounter just one time, or do something else that you know is wrong and not suffer any consequences. You may not see the results of your actions immediately but you can be sure God is already punishing you. It may be days, weeks or even years. You may have forgotten but He hasn't.
As long as we are on this earth we will be tempted. Ask God for help every time they come along. Remember what I said before, Satan is very tricky. He will make things look like they are God's will when they are not. When you pray ask for His will to be done. He has never and will never forsake us.
I hope this has been helpful to you. Please feel free to leave any questions or comments. I don't want to seem rude, but only use English. That is the only language I speak. Someone wrote something in another language. I don't know if it is a comment or a question. I can't reply because I don't know what they said. Anyway, have a blessed day.
